Double Justin's $5,000 Match Challenge!

Due to the outpouring of support, we've increased the match to $10,000! This would allow THREE Capital City seniors, interested in STEM, to receive this scholarship.

On October 2, 2019, Capital City 7th Grade Science Teacher Justin Lopez-Cardoze was named the 2020 DC Teacher of the Year. The first Latino to receive this honor, Justin is dedicating $5,000 of his $7,500 award to create a scholarship for a Capital City graduating senior who wants to pursue a college degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

Through the LoCa STEM Scholarship, at least one Capital City senior will receive a $5,000 scholarship in spring 2020. As Justin says, "That’s where the money needs to go: to students.”

There are so many more seniors that Justin would like to support, and he is challenging all of us to support this important endeavor - our future scientists, doctors, engineers, and mathematicians. Help him raise at least an additional $10,000 by donating to the LoCa STEM Scholarship TODAY!
