When we envisioned and opened Capital City more than 20 years ago, we focused on the whole child to ensure that students would learn not just reading, math, and science, but also compassion, service, and community. We developed a program that all students could access with the right support, differentiated instruction, and love and care for each child’s unique self. We also knew that the physical space mattered. Our students, the majority who are the first in their families to graduate high school and enroll in college, deserve to have a space where they love to learn and that offers them the opportunity to explore, grow, and learn through all their senses.

This year, we have invested $2.5 million in our building to transform a dusty storage area into a dance studio, community space, and breakout rooms to improve on our state-of-the-art facility that supports students’ social, emotional, and academic growth. In this season of giving, you can invest in our whole child program by helping us reach our goal to raise $30,000 to furnish and finish this space that soon will include a beautiful dance studio for our high school students to practice and craft their art; rooms for teachers to work in smaller groups with students to provide supportive, personalized instruction; dedicated learning areas for our popular aftercare program; and finally a space for our community to come together to meet, celebrate, and honor our students, families, and staff.
